David Helm has always been drawn to the art and science of building. His journey began at the age of 15 when he discovered an architectural textbook, sparking his interest in home design and leading to his first blueprint.

David earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, which broadened his understanding of human behavior and societal needs. This enriched his approach to designing homes that are both visually appealing and functional for those living in them. His passion for learning and improvement has always shaped his home-building philosophy.

David started Helm Custom Homes to merge his love for design with his passion for construction. As a result, Helm Custom Homes operates with a focus on excellence, integrity, and personalized service, blending classic craftsmanship with modern innovation to build homes that stand the test of time.

He has garnered industry recognition for his innovative designs and commitment to quality. His work has been featured in Design KC magazine, the Parade of Homes and the Artisan Tour of Greater Kansas City.
